The use of re-claimed and previously used wood has several benefits - only one of which is the mitigation of waste. The wood that I use is often from renovated or demolished buildings and can be 50 years old or more. This wood is dimensionally stable and is less likely to warp, check, crack or shrink, as much newer lumber can do.
